About Our Founder: John St. John

Johnathan E. St. John, MBA, PHR is Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Lighthouse Communication Design, Inc.- D.b.a. SkillTree, a California Certified SB/DVBE business documentation and training consultancy, headquartered in Elk Grove, CA.

His learning management philosophies and experiences were developed while supporting national training initiatives for three Fortune 500 companies generating $5 - $60 billion in sales revenue annually. He has been involved in progressively complex learning program developments and launches delivering quality service to large private, not-for-profit, and public agencies with state, regional, or national presence. As a seasoned learning consultant, trainer, and public speaker, Mr. St. John has delivered countless hours of engaging, innovative, and competency-based learning solutions.

Serving a variety of employers and industries, in-house or under contract, Mr. St. John has provided assessment, development, design, implementation, and measurement of adult learning through corporate universities and public workshop venues. He often partners and consults with organizational leaders and organizational development staffers, to alleviate employee performance and training development issues. He has developed, distilled, and presented most-likely case opportunities, training plans, and solutions to leadership and other stakeholders. His training consultancy’s focus is linking organizational learning, individual effort, and strategic outcomes.

Mr. St. John received his Bachelor's degree from California State University Sacramento and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He also received his Professional in Human Resources (P.H.R.) Certificate from Human Resource Certification Institute/Society for Human Resource Management. He was also invited to serve as an Adjunct Faculty member at American River College - Sacramento, CA. For over 18 years, Mr. St. John has served Fortune 500 employers and other clients, in a variety of Human Resources and Organizational Development roles. Throughout his career, he created human capital value impacting 10 states, serving thousands of employee customers, and influencing multi-site work locations by partnering with hundreds of frontline to executive leaders, to drive business and government initiatives.

He has cultivated direct reporting relationships with and consulted to Senior Managers, Directors, and Executives. His career has been distinguished by various service awards, special projects, and productivity innovations, such as launching a full-service Regional Human Resources web presence adopted nationally, writing a national organization’s 1st comprehensive LOA handbook integrating California’s CFRA/FMLA/PDL laws for workers and Out-of-State Legal Department, and developing pay practices and policies for military employees protected under USERRA.

Mr. St. John is currently serving as a Panelist on the State of California - Employment Training Panel, and was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzennegar. He is also the Chair, Public Relations and Marketing Committee - Sacramento-Sierra Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is past Chairman, Website Committee of the Sacramento Chapter, Society for Human Resources Management, and has served as Chairman, Website Committee of the Sacramento Chapter, American Society for Training and Development.
